Dumitru Prunariu
Dumitru Prunariu was a cosmonaut who was born on September 27, 1952, in
Romania.
Before he became a cosmonaut, Prunariu was an air force pilot.
Prunariu became a cosmonaut in 1978. He became the first Romanian in
space when he flew aboard Soyuz 40 in 1981. The crew spent eight days in
space aboard the Salyut 6 space station.
