This drawing represents one of the Valkiries - female warriors of Norse mythology.
In Norse mythology, it is believed that the northern lights
were light reflected off the shields of Odin's
special assistants, the female warriors called the Valkiries.
They were often sent to battles to choose which of the dead
warriors would be sent to Valhalla, in Asgard, the home of the gods. Asgard's walls were made of shields and its roof made of spears.
