Spiral Galaxie Collisions Occur More Often
News story originally written on May 11, 1999
Scientists have found that spiralgalaxies collide more than we thought! Have you
seen a galaxy? (In case you haven't, there is a picture on the left!)
A new camera can see through dust and find bands of stars. These bands are
only seen in galaxies that run into each other. Scientists are finding
more bands than they thought they would. That means galaxies are running
into each other all the time. How clumsy!
