Mysterious Giant Squid Found on Tasmanian Beach

Have you ever seen a giant squid? Not many people have. They live deep in the ocean far away from people. But last week, a dead giant squid washed up on a beach in Australia, giving people a peek at this mysterious animal!
Giant squid are very large! The giant squid that was found in Australia is about as long as two big school busses. Each eyeball is larger than a person's head.
Giant squid live by themselves in the deep ocean, far away from land. They are related to Mollusks like small squid and octopus. All squid, even the small ones, hunt to find food, but only giant squid can hunt animals as large as whales.
The squid that washed up on the beach was taken to a museum, where scientists saw large muscles on its legs. They had never seen muscles like these before. The scientists say this giant squid may be a type that no one has seen before!
