Space Shuttle Columbia is Lost
News story originally written on February 3, 2003
We at Windows to the Universe are very sad because of the deaths of astronauts aboard the Space Shuttle Columbia. Columbia broke apart on Saturday February 1, 2003 as it was on its way home to Earth.
The seven astronauts aboard the Columbia Space Shuttle were just finishing their mission. They did many science experiments during their time in space. Four of the astronauts experienced being in space for the first time. The other three had each been in space once before.
We offer sympathy to the families and friends of the crew members, to NASA and the country during this difficult time.
