Richard Searfoss is an American astronaut who was born on June 5, 1956,
in Michigan.
Before he became an astronaut, Searfoss served as an Air Force pilot. He
has logged over 2300 hours of flight time.
Searfoss became an astronaut in 1991. He has spent over 557 hours in
space aboard two spacecraft.
In 1993, Searfoss served as pilot to STS-58. The crew performed several
medical tests during this mission. Searfoss made his second flight
aboard STS-76 in 1996. The crew docked with the Russian Mir Space
Station for 8 days.
