Many science teams, such as the ACE project pictured here, are
repositioning satellites so they won't be damaged in the meteor
shower.

Meteor Shower May Cause Problem with Spacecraft
News story originally written on November 15, 1998
The
Leonids meteor shower will be the biggest
and the brightest on November 17th this year. The meteors could damage
satellites in orbit.
If a tiny meteor hits a satellite, the meteor can mess up the electronics
inside the satellite. Some scientists like the ones in charge of the
Advanced Composition Explorer
don't want this to happen. They're going to shut off as much of the
equipment on the satellite as they can. That should prevent the meteors
from damaging the satellite. Hopefully it will work!
