Scientists Find One of the First Galaxies
News story originally written on June 21, 1999
Scientists found a really old galaxy! It is one of the first galaxies ever! The galaxy is inside a huge black hole. They used radio signals to find it.
Black holes give out energy when the suck in an object. The energy came to Earth as radio waves. Scientists used these waves to make an image of the galaxy. The galaxy is about 11 billion years old, and the universe is about 12 billion years old. They are both a lot older than you!
