These two photographs show crater chains on the Ganymede, a moon of Jupiter. The strong gravitational force of Jupiter causes comets to split. On the left is a chain of craters 60 km long formed when as many as six pieces hit. The image on the right shows a 160km long set of craters from a different collision. Scientists study the craters to learn about the comets that created them.
