Look closely at the center of this photograph and you will see several craters in a row. This is known as a “crater chain”. These chains form when several pieces of a broken comet strike the surface of a moon or planet. This crater chain is found on Callisto, a moon of the planet Jupiter. Photo by Voyager 1 in 1979.
