Janine Goldstein
Janine has worked at NCAR for 17 years. She started as a student assistant working with images of the sun taken at the Mauna Loa Solar Observatory in Hawaii. Then she worked with a scientist studying cirrus ice clouds. Janine is now a member of the Earth Observing Laboratory. She gathers weather information from all over the world and makes it available to scientists so that they can use it to learn about and model weather and climate. Recently Janine has begun working with a scientist at NCAR studying convective initiation, or how thunderstorms develop.
Janine loves all kinds of science and likes to share her enthusiasm with others. Each October she volunteers as a "Wizard" performing science demonstrations at NCAR's Super Science Saturday event. She has two daughters: Madeline, who is 12 and Alie, who is 9.
