These Hubble telescope photographs show several quasars. Quasars are very bright and distant energetic objects. In the top left, is a quasar that is 1.4 billion light-years from Earth. In the top center is a quasar that may be the result of the collision of two galaxies traveling toward each other at 1 million mph. This galaxy is 3 billion light years distant. In the photograph at the bottom center a quasar merges with a galaxy.
