This image shows many of the most visible constellations in the northern hemisphere. At the bottom is highlighted, Acrux, the brightest star in Crux, also known as the Southern Cross. Acrux is the twelfth brightest star in the sky and in addition is a near-twin, meaning it is two stars. This modern constellation may be viewed only south of the Tropic of Cancer, in the southern hemisphere.
