Mimas
Mimas was first discovered by W. Herschel in 1789. Mimas is the 6th closest moon to Saturn, with a standoff distance of 185,520 km. It is one of the
icy moons, similar to the
Galilean satellites. Mimas is about as long as the distance from Los Angeles to San Fransisco, a length of 390 km (260 miles). The main characteristic of Mimas is its
resemblance to the "Death Star" from the "Star Wars" trilogy.
