Spring 2006 Anaheim NSTA Schedule

Windows to the Universe will offer numerous workshops at the upcoming NSTA meeting in Anaheim, California. Workshops include:


April 6

"Bring Writing and Reading into Your Earth Science Classroom: Innovative Assessment Ideas" - Discover new ways to assess student knowledge. We'll explore techniques like creating online journals, writing movie reviews and stories, hosting debates, and reading current event articles. Handouts and rubrics! 8 - 9 am, Hilton Anaheim, California C;

"Something in the Air! Exploring the Science of Weather and Climate with NCAR" - Explore weather and climate through hands-on activities and literacy building content from NCAR Kids' Crossing (http://www.eo.ucar.edu/kids/). "Kids' Crossing in the Classroom" educators' guide provided. 9:30 - 10:30 am, Hilton Anaheim, Carmel;

"Classroom Tools to Explore the Past, Present, and Future of Climate Change" - Explore the scientific foundations of what we know about climate change through hands-on activities and online content from Windows to the Universe. Handouts and other resources provided. 2:00 - 3:00 pm, Hilton Anaheim, Laguna.



April 7

"WALLS (Water, Air, Land, Life, and Space) Workshop" - A unique team of teachers and scientists will share their repertoire of hands-on, inquiry-based activities for Water, Air, Land, Life and Space content areas. Handouts! 9:30 - 10:30 am, Anaheim Convention Center, Room 304C;

"NESTA Share-a-Thon I" - NESTA members will demonstrate and share copies of their favorite classroom activities in a flea market setting. Stop by and add to your collection. 9:30 - 10:30 am, Hilton Anaheim, Pacific C;

"NESTA Share-a-Thon II" - NESTA members will demonstrate and share copies of their favorite classroom activities in a flea market setting. Stop by and add to your collection. 11:00 am - 12:00 pm, Hilton Anaheim, Pacific C.



April 8

"NESTA/NAGT Joint Share-a-Thon" - NESTA and NAGT members demonstrate and share copies of their favorite classroom activities in a flea market setting. Stop by and add to your collection. 9:30 - 10:30 am, Hilton Anaheim, Pacific C.
