Andrew Thomas

Andrew Thomas was born on December 18, 1951, in Adelaide, South Australia. Before he became an astronaut, Thomas worked as a mechanical engineer.

Thomas became an astronaut for NASA in 1992. He has spent over 132 days in space on two spaceflights. In 1996, Thomas flew aboard STS-77. The crew deployed an inflatable antenna during this mission.

In 1998, Thomas is currently spending four months aboard the Russian Mir Space Station. He will be the last NASA astronaut to stay aboard Mir.
