Donald McMonagle

Donald McMonagle is an American astronaut who was born on May 14, 1952, in Michigan. Before he became an astronaut, McMonagle was an Air Force pilot. He has logged over 4000 hours of flight time.

McMonagle became an astronaut in 1988. He has spent over 605 hours in space on three spaceflights.

McMonagle made his first spaceflight aboard STS-39 in 1991. This was a Department of Defense mission. In 1993, he served as pilot of STS-54. The crew deployed a Tracking and Data Relay Satellite.

McMonagle's last flight occured in 1994 as commander of STS-66. The crew studied the Earth's atmosphere during this mission.
