Sergei Krikalev

Sergei Krikalev is a cosmonaut who was born on August 27, 1958, in Leningrad, Russia.

Krikalev became a cosmonaut in 1987. He has spent over 461 days in space aboard 2 spaceflights.

In 1988, Krikalev flew aboard the Mir space station. He made a spacewalk during his 6-month stay. In 1991, Krikalev flew a second time on Mir. This stay was unexpectedly long, with Krikalev spending 9 months in the cramped quarters. The reason was due to the Soviet coup of 1991. During this stay, Krikalev made an unprecedented 6 spacewalks where he did space construction.
