Joseph Kerwin

Joseph Kerwin was an American astronaut who was born on February 19, 1932, in Illinois. Before he became an astronaut, Kerwin practiced medicine for the Marines.

Kerwin became an astronaut in 1965. He has spent over 673 hours in space on one spaceflight. In 1973, Kerwin became the first American doctor to make a spaceflight in Skylab 2. He spent 28 days studying the health of his crewmates.

Kerwin left NASA in 1987. He currently works for Lockheed Martin Space Corporation.
