Applications due June 8, 2012 -Environmental Education Award
This award honors an outstanding high school teacher who successfully integrates environmental education into their curriculum and engages students in interdisciplinary solutions to environmental challenges.The winning teacher will receive an award of $5,000 to support their work in environmental education. Two teachers will win $750 merit awards.The awards will be announced in August 2012.
May 18 - 19, 2012 - Educator Workshop for Monitoring the Environment
This workshop prepares you to teach your students to construct, program, deploy and interpret data from their own water quality sensors. Participating teachers will be provided with the materials to implement the sensor construction in their classroom. Participants will earn $350 plus 10 hours of professional development upon completion of the workshop and follow-up webinars.
July 30-August 3, 2012 - Summer Workshop Exploring Earthquakes and Earth Structure.
The workshop will include a one-week classroom program (2 graduate credits) and an optional one-week field trip to the New Madrid seismic zone (1 graduate credit). Participants will be provided housing and a generous honorarium to cover all costs during the workshop. Priority will be given to teachers from Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky and Missouri.
