This statue represents the Greek hero, Perseus. Perseus was most famous for slaying Medusa, one of the three Greek underworld creatures known as Gorgons. According to Greek myth, anyone to look at Medusa turned to stone. Perseus killed Medusa with the help of Hermes and Athena. The statue is housed in the Vatican Museum, Rome, Italy.
