Frogs in Space!?!
News story originally written on February 9, 1998
Have you ever seen the Muppet Show
? Do you know the part about 'Pigs in Spaaaace!' (please say this in your best Miss Piggy voice!) Now people are talking about 'Frogs in Spaaaace!' It isn't real frogs people are talking about, this is a new NASA program!
This new program is called El Coqui. El Coqui is the name of a frog that lives in Puerto Rico. The El Coqui will launch 11 rockets in 2 months. That's a lot of rockets! The launches start on February 12th.
We have many weather satellites that help us make weather forecasts. Well, the El Coqui program is going to look at a different kind of weather, space weather! Space weather can disrupt our radio and television. So you see, this mission is very important!
