Artic Expedition Sets Out...
News story originally written on June 19, 1998
A team of scientists is going to investigate a meteorite crater in the Artic Circle.
Scientists are hoping that this expedition will help future Martian missions. You see, this crater site has similiar features to those on Mars. Drilling and mapping may shed light on how we can investigate Mars better.
Some interesting tidbits...the team members of the Haughton-Mars expedition will use a special helicopter to take pictures of the crater. This helicopter needs no pilot - it is a robot! They will also 'rent' two dogs to keep at the campsite...to ward off polar bears! The expedition is expected to end July 26th.
