Contact Metamorphism

Contact Metamorphism is the drastic change that can occur in a rock due to the introduction of chemicals from other rocks. A particular example is the injection of hot magma in a rock, and the high temperatures associated with the magma. Temperature changes are part of the phenomena which initiates changes in a rock.

Another way in which rocks can change is introduced through regional metamorphism.
