Fronts are some of the basic building blocks of weather. Fronts occur where two large air masses crash into each other. Fronts are caused by winds moving one air mass away from its birthplace. Due to the turbulence that occurs due to the collision of air masses, fronts on Earth are usually associated with some form of precipitation. Severe weather, such as thunderstorms, and tornados can occur with fronts on Earth.
It remains to be seen whether fronts have similar effects in the atmosphere of Mars.
